Juvelen

With its spectacular design and high standards on sustainability, Juvelen has become a new landmark in Uppsala. It has six floors and a total area of 10,000 sq. m. The building was nominated for Glaspriset 2020 and was voted as the most popular new property construction by readers of Uppsala Nya newspaper.

We collaborated with the other partners in the project to arrive at the design solutions. Fasadglas delivered and installed the facade and window sections to the gold-coloured concrete structure, along with the solar cells on Juvelen’s sedum-clad roof. Because of the solar cells, Juvelen is also a net-zero primary energy building, which means that it generates nearly all of the energy it needs, requiring only a very small amount of renewable energy supplied from another location. The building is one of the world’s most sustainable office buildings.

Juvelen is a shining example of how glass can be used as a building material to create an architecturally pleasing result and meet extremely high environmental and sustainability standards.
